ClinGen Expert Panel Information Workshop (pre-registration required)
Friday, April 5, 2019, 7:15 AM - 8:30 AM, Washington State Convention Center, Room: 3AB
The goal of the workshop is to inform the medical genetics and genomics community about current volunteer opportunities with ClinGen. One of ClinGen’s core goals is to expertly curate the rich and transparent supporting evidence (such as phenotypic and functional effects, and clinical information) into a freely available, comprehensive knowledge base. ClinGen is founded on community engagement and collaborative sharing of data and knowledge, and therefore we are inviting “Community Curators” to play a significant role in sustainably scaling up ClinGen gene and variant curation. We will begin by briefly describing the “Community Curation” process, including activities, incentives, and training, and then leaders from the ClinGen Expert Panels (EPs) and Working Groups (WGs) will give fast-paced ‘pitches’ for their groups. At completion, workshop attendees will be informed about the ClinGen Community Curation process and the Working Groups and Expert Panels that are actively recruiting new volunteers. You can register for the workshop on the ACMG registration page.
